Intersection of Hollywood and Vine

If you are looking for stars engraved with celebrity names laid on concrete sidewalk, Hollywood and Vine is an intersection you should visit. Once a lemon grove, this area had its heyday in the 1920s, as movie studios and radio broadcasts made it an area of concentration. The intersection has gone through its tough times, but the installation of a subway station makes it an easily accessible location to visit on any Los Angeles vacation.

Walk amongst the stars

Hollywood and Vine's most famous attraction is the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the streets' exact corners are the stars honoring Apollo 11's famous moon men, and many more stars reside along the sidewalk. Over 2,400 celebrities from film, television, music and theater are immortalized in terrazzo and brass on Hollywood Avenue.

Surrounding structures

A number of famous buildings have ringed Hollywood and Vine over the years. The intersection's Pantages Theatre, built in the Art Deco style, hosted the Academy Awards during the 1950s, and today, hosts some of the largest stage productions in Los Angeles. The Brown Derby restaurant opened in 1929, the second of its chain, and grew into an icon in television and film. Unfortunately, only a portion of its facade remains today. The Taft Building housed the offices of all the Hollywood names in the 1920s and 1930s, and it still stands today. Looking north, visitors can see the iconic, round Capitol Records Tower, where music is still produced.

A visit to Hollywood and Vine lets visitors breathe in the air of the star-studded town's historic present and past, allowing them to stand at the corner and commune with the movie stars of old.
