The Corners of a Feng Shui Home

The corners of a home are extremely important when redecorating in the Feng Shui tradition. The cardinal rule on which all Feng Shui decorating is based is known as the bagua. The bagua in every corner of a home is recognized by its octagon shape, and each bagua is symbolic for the various important aspects of life. These significant bagua areas need proper balancing to achieve a harmonious atmosphere.

The eight basic corners in a Feng Shui home

The bagua in each corner of a Feng Shui home represents eight significant areas in the lives of all people. These areas are: marriage or a romantic relationship, located at the bagua's furthest right-hand corner; the friend corner, located at the closest right-hand corner; creativeness, located at the right-hand side of the actual room itself; employment, located by the front door; recognition, located on the opposite side of the front door; family relationships, located at the left-hand side of the actual room itself; material blessings, located at the furthest left-hand corner and self-realization, located at the closest left-hand corner. All of these corners need the proper balance, and Feng Shui decorating techniques make this possible.

Feng Shui corners that are directed toward the front door or toward a window near the front door need to have decorations to dispel disharmony, such as a planter filled with flowers, a hanging plant or wind chimes. The home owner can use personal creativity to think of other possible decorations for these types of corners that can cause disharmony in the home.
